
Donald L. Vogt Sr.,89, Charlestown, IN passed away in Plainfield IN on May 6, 2017 at the age of 89 surrounded by family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur E. Vogt Sr. and Nadine Vogt; siblings, Arthur E. Vogt Jr. and Betty Faber Vogt.
He was the beloved husband to Mary Carol Arehart Vogt (1997) and Elizabeth Herring Vogt (2015).
He is survived by his children, Don Vogt Jr., Heidi Nichols, Eric Vogt, and Peter Vogt; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Also, he is survived by step-children, Cindy Hutton, Lorrie Gasvoda, Dawn Curry, Robert Hopwood, Kim Hopwood; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Donald was a proud WWII Veteran, a member of Teamster Union Local 89, and a Reserve Officer for Clark County Sheriff’s Dept. He held the position of Campground Host at Hardy Lake Campground for many years and donated countless hours to the Dwight R. Chamberlain Raptor Rehabilitation Center. He received Indiana DNR Volunteer of the Year in 2006.
Services will be held graveside on Saturday May 13, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Charlestown Cemetery, Charlestown, IN. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Friends of Hardy Lake in his name; Donations@friendsofhardylake.org.
